'Come home, William'

Dr. Bill Cummings resigned as Jesus' disciple, abandoned his church and continues to regurgitate the same timeworn gibberish thousands of interpreters have spouted before him. They attract naíve Christians with their razzle-dazzle interpretations creating cult followings in the process.

The conceited arrogance, anger and bitterness, blatantly and subliminally displayed in Cummings' columns toward the Catholic Church, the original disciples and their writings, reveals a man with a grudge gnawing at his soul.

He writes fondly of his time spent as a Catholic priest cradled in the bosom of Jesus' most Holy Church. Then suddenly, after 20 plus years, this love and contentment for the spiritually elevated life mutated into something else.

Cummings should stop these vindictive scriptural temper tantrums, jettison the ridiculous vendetta and skedaddle back home. Manipulating the spiritually timid into doubting the validity of scriptures only undermines their faith. It does not, cannot and will not appease a soul aching to reconnect with the Holy Eucharist.

"Bless me, Father" are words that begin the journey, words Cummings knows well. So swallow the pride and come home William. The clock's ticking.

Insanity

How outlandish and vile can you get? CBS News reports, Tuesday, Dec. 1, that we are denying our vets the cure for hepatitis C because of the high cost. The antiquated state of Georgia chooses to treat low level, non-violent drug offenders with this exceedingly expensive cure who were sentenced under the old system.

Allowing non-violent offenders to languish in prison incurring this additional expense while denying our vets the same treatment because the prison reform act is not retroactive is the epitome of insanity. What say you, Gov. Deal?

Free speech?

Macon and Middle Georgia should welcome all the presidential candidates and hear what they have to say. We should not be protesting and waving signs that a candidate is not welcome in Macon. Former Macon Mayor C. Jack Ellis did just that, and I feel that should not have happened to Donald Trump or any of the presidential candidates. Sorry, Jack, but Trump gets my vote for sure now.

Stone Mountain Memorial

Georgians have a wonderful opportunity via the Stone Mountain Memorial Park and Dr. King's representation. His addition heralds a change that all Georgians should loudly proclaim. It is a rare opportunity to offer and accept forgiveness for our trespasses, just as God ordained us to do long ago. Thus all our children will better realize their potential, absent the atmosphere of hate, resentment and anger of past generations. So step out today with a smile and the hand of friendship. Ours is a great and wonderful state and with the Lord's blessing we can move forward and make it better than it has ever been.
