An answer for Kelley
I felt I needed to answer John G. Kelly Jr.'s letter, the Thanksgiving one. I would like to start by saying the Pilgrims had the first Thanksgiving feast to be thankful to God for being with them and helping them survive. When Lincoln declared the fourth Thursday in November to be Thanksgiving, it was to give thanks to our God and Father. Now to answer Kelley with a quote from Philippians 2:5-9: "Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name." Why would God come down out of heaven to this minuscule spot to suffer and die, if there were another way to get to heaven?

Trump will perform
In a recent edition of The Telegraph, columnist Charles E. Richardson opined in his piece that if Donald Trump captures the GOP nomination next year it will ensure a Democrat in the White House in January 2017. From the generosity of his left-leaning personal computer, Richardson then offers the GOP two contenders that might be able to heal the party and carry it to success at the ballot box. If memory serves correct, Richardson made this same comment in earlier prognostications.
Thanks, but no thanks Mr. Editor, many of us believe Trump will preform very well in the Oval Office and when his campaign puffs are sifted, his business sense and ability to work with others will go a long way in getting our country back on sound financial footing and a sensible immigration policy. Much of those two problems can be resolved simply by the new president refusing to issue green cards with benefits to undocumented aliens. A kind of don't build it for the undocumented and they won't come strategy, if you please.
The leading Democratic challenger at this time has more negative political baggage than a bus can haul, including a cigar-toting husband who was impeached while in office in 1999 and almost convicted. With a choice between that person and the Donald the next year of politics will be exciting, and we can expect more unflattering news stories, columns and political cartoons, toward the GOP from The Telegraph.

'Fusion'
Re: J.M. Hirsch's Nov. 16 "2015's best cookbooks. Forgive me if this is repetitive, but I would like to expand on the article's theme to mention Toni Tipton-Martin's "The Jemima Code" (a bibliography of African-American cookbooks) and the revival of Edna Lewis' "The Taste of Cooking." I think these days we would use the term "fusion" (of African-American and French/European gourmet style).
