Pound pals
Each Saturday I turn to the page featuring Pound Pals. I always wonder why there are so many cats and dogs that don't have homes. I look at the eyes of those animals and see a bit of sadness. I know they need a home and they want a loving home. Why did God make cats and dogs? They are to teach man how to love. Is there anything more loving than a small animal's love? It is unconditional and everlasting love. If you don't have a pet, adopt a dog or cat now. You will find something God has made just for you. You will find a true friend. I look at the four cats and two dogs in my home. I see God has placed pure love in their hearts just for me. And their eyes glow with affection.

Misinterpreting readout
I was amused that the copy editor inserted a red-letter comment in what was essentially a front page news item announcing "Trump coming to Macon."
The comment, lifted from the story's jump page, suggests that Macon is an unlikely destination for a Republican candidate because nearly 60 percent of Bibb County's voters cast ballots for President Obama in 2012.
Perhaps Donald Trump is giving Macon-Bibb County voters credit for learning from their mistakes. I doubt he'd be so optimistic regarding your paper's left-wing editors.

Dream come true
After six decades, I finally got my holiday present of a lifetime. I am still in shock and awe. The next president of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump is coming to Macon. Dreams do come true! Can we say FRONT ROW!

2015 community project
The Leadership Macon Class of 2015 would like to express its appreciation to our community for its support of our class project, the revitalization of Second Street Lane.
Each year, the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Macon class is charged with completing a project for the benefit of our community. The Class of 2015 chose to improve Second Street Lane — an alley that runs between Poplar and Mulberry streets — with enhanced lighting, landscaping, benches, Wi-Fi, areas for artistic expression and fun hardscapes that include a ping-pong table and chess boards. Our hope is that these improvements will make the alley a safe and enjoyable space for those who live, work and play in downtown Macon.
Many organizations in our community partnered with us to make this project possible. We would especially like to thank the following sponsors for their support: 13WMAZ and TEGNA Foundation; The Peyton Anderson Foundation; James-Bates-Brannan-Groover, LLP; Chris R. Sheridan & Company; Community Foundation of Central Georgia; Cox Communications; Ken's Stereo Junction; Knight Foundation; Middle Georgia State University Foundation; NewTown Macon Inc.; Robins Federal Credit Union; State Bank & Trust Company; Apparel Authority; Forrest B. Johnson and Associates; Georgia Power; Macon-Bibb Convention and Visitor's Bureau; Mike Martinek, State Farm Insurance; and Cherokee Brick & Tile Company.
We invite the community to join us for the dedication of the new and improved alley during First Friday on Dec. 4. A ceremony will be held at the corner of Second Street Lane and Cherry Street (by Lamar Lofts) at 4:30 p.m. with tours to follow.

Eternally optimistic
As I watched a PBS special on the folk group Peter, Paul and Mary, I remembered how naively optimistic I was back then that we could overcome our differences and work together to make a better world. This Thanksgiving I am thankful for all the optimists who are still hanging in there.

Costly study?
Why would one pay $50,000 for a baseball feasibility study when just a few years ago the Atlanta Braves organization explained it for free?
