Christian versus Christian
This is in response to Travis Middleton's letter of Nov. 5. One of the differences amongst the numerous Christian denominations is that some believe the Bible is the actual and literal word of God. Others believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. Therefore, the latter do not find any contradiction between Genesis and evolution.
I understand why some Christians do not accept the beliefs of non-Christians of faith. I understand why some Christians are frustrated by atheists who have had prayer banned from public events and schools. I believe the main reason why atheists have been so successful in their efforts is because some communities demanded that only Christian prayers are acceptable.
What I do not understand is why some Christians are intolerant of the beliefs of fellow Christians. Just because an individual has a different set of beliefs, does not mean they are anti-God.

Selective memory
Sloan Oliver's recent critique of President Obama's foreign policy on Oct. 29 fails to mention that it was former President George W. Bush who got us into wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. At a cost of 7,000 American lives and $1 trillion and counting. Also, Bush signed the diplomatic agreement that forced us to withdraw all our troops from Iraq, not President Obama. The Iraqis kicked us out.

Call a crook
There is not a problem with the law enforcement in this country. There is a problem with criminals in this country. The only ones who hate cops and whine are the crooks. Try calling on a crook when you need help.

Oversight
J. Blake Sullivan said in Viewpoints there is a citizen oversight committee being formed by the Bibb County school board. Try as I might, I cannot find any mention of that on macon.com. Apparently my google-fu is weak. Can you guys elaborate?
