Can do no wrong
I wrote a couple of months back that Hillary Clinton was toast as a presidential candidate. I wrongly figured she was at least partially subject to the same laws as you and I. Boy, was I wrong (as other readers suggested at the time). I now believe Hillary could stand in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue at noon in Washington, D.C., and tear the heads off of Chihuahua puppies while smoking a Bob Marley-size blunt and firing an automatic weapon at passers-by and not get arrested. Not even ticketed. The New York Times would find a way to call the event a right-wing conspiracy and make Hillary out to be the victim even as the puppy carcasses were swept from the street.
With the mainstream media, academia, Hollywood and limousine liberals on both coasts carrying water for her, she may get elected. That act alone would finish Obama's transformation of this country into a Third World hellhole like most of the rest of the world that believes as he does that America is the cause of all evil on this Earth. God help us all.

Are advocates reasonable?
The "Moms Demand..." and "Anytown" gun grabbers are typical of the progressive mindset. My friend Ty Arcuby sums it up well: "The fact is that there is no point in arguing with liberal gun-control advocates because their argument is never in good faith. They slander gun owners as murderers. They lie about their ultimate aim, which is to ban and confiscate all privately owned weapons. And they adopt a pose of reasonability, yet their position is not susceptible to change because of evidence, facts or law. None of those matter — they already have their conclusion. This has to do with power — their power.
"You can't argue with someone who is lying about his position or whose position is not based upon reason. You can talk all day about how crime has diminished where concealed carry is allowed, while it flourishes in Democrat-blue cities where gun control is tightest. You can point to statistics showing that law-abiding citizens who carry legally are exponentially less likely to commit gun crimes than other people. You can cite examples of armed citizens protecting themselves and their communities with guns. You can offer government statistics showing how the typical American is at many times greater risk of death from an automobile crash, a fall or poisoning than from murder by gun. But none of that matters because this debate is not about facts. It's about power. The liberal anti-gun narrative is not aimed at creating the best public policy but at disarming citizens the liberal elite looks down upon — and for whom weapons represent their last-ditch ability to respond to liberal overreach.
"Put simply, liberal elitists don't like the fact that, at the end of the day, an armed citizenry can tell them, 'No'."

Won her over
I have got to say, I am really impressed with the challenger in the Warner Robins Post 4 City Council race. Betsy Loiacano stopped by my house a couple of days ago and I asked her a lot of questions about how she would get things done.
She was smart, articulate, had a strong understanding of the issues and is passionate about City Hall stopping the "hemming and hawing" about honoring our veterans in a proper manner. We live in a military town that touts EDIMGIMAD, yet our current leaders treat that acronym like it is just shrubbery in front of a mall. The red-head won my vote.

No E-SPLOST
We may have a new Bibb County School superintendent, but almost every sitting board member was involved in the Dallemand fiasco, Kumho money grab or some other inappropriate or downright dirty issue involving district money. That said, I second Arthur Brooks' call for a citizen oversight committee. Even with a strong new superintendent some board members are so entrenched in their districts (or local politics in general) that they could be convicted of murder and eating babies and still get re-elected. That translates to the old BOE's typical closemouthed, backdoor behavior. I say: No Oversight? No E-SPLOST.

New eyes to council
There is currently a lot of controversy concerning the City Council of Centerville. I am not writing this letter about the city or any of its employees or elected officials. What I am writing about is my friend Ed Armijo. Ed is running for City Council, Post 4.
I have known Ed more than eight years and always found him to be very honest and trustworthy and willing to work hard on any task he undertakes. Ed has been a homeowner in Centerville for more than 15 years. During this time Ed has worked on and volunteered his time to many organizations.
I know Ed is well-qualified to serve on the Centerville City Council. He has a fine resume, having served in the Air Force and presently working at Robins Air Force Base. It is time for a fresh face and new ideas.
Ed is the type of person who will listen to residents input and suggestions and will represent all residents of Centerville. Ed would also bring a new set of eyes and ears to the City Council.
This is why I support Ed and hope the residents of Centerville will also support him in the upcoming election Nov. 3.

Empty, sinking feeling
I sent a nice thank you note to Trey Gowdy, Bengahzi panel chairman, for providing Hillary Clinton with an 11-hour political commercial showing her grace, skills, wit, intelligence and patience while showing them to be the brain-dead incompetent schmucks they are.
As Rep. Gowdy left the hearing, his expression was, "Well, that sure didn't go like I thought it would. Now what?" What likely came next was that empty, sinking feeling when he realized they had just given Hillary the presidency.

For Robbins
I am going to vote for the re-election of Warner Robins City Councilwoman Carolyn Robbins to Post 2, as she has a proven record of excellent service to our city. She is very knowledgeable about all aspects of our city government and is very responsive to the needs of her constituents.
She has campaigned door-to-door through her district's neighborhoods including my own where I first met her. I look forward to her continuing her excellent service to our City Council and our city.
