Why?

The disturbing news of politicians, Hollywood moguls and actors sexually assaulting women is disgusting. I can’t comprehend it and don’t understand how these men of power could be so abusive and have a sense of entitlement because of their wealth, power and positions.

The vast majority of men had mothers in their lives. Many have sisters, aunts, female children, other female members of their families and wives. I always lived by the following standard. Would you want sexual assault, or any unwelcome advances made upon a member of your own family. Of course not, so why do they think it is OK for this type of behavior on any woman.

My mother died when I was a young child. I had a loving father but he was unable to provide the type of environment and love only a mother can give. My older sister stepped in and cared for me, my sister and brother. If there ever was an angel on this earth she was it. I can’t imagine in her lifetime ever being treated this way. Again, why would a man do this sort of thing when they would never want this behavior to happen to a female member of their family. Think about it.

The swamp

It is my humble opinion that no woman should have the power to destroy a man’s life with 30 to 40 year old accusations without credible proof, not just her accusation. Where have these women been for so long? Why wait until a man is in the middle of a campaign to suddenly appear? The situation in Alabama doesn’t pass the smell test and appears to have some ulterior motives behind it. It has been proven many times over that liberals and some Dems will do almost anything to win an election. Many spineless Republicans are way to quick to jump on the bandwagon, without proof, in hopes of getting some political advantage. It’s no wonder so many qualified and capable people refuse to jump in the “swamp.”

Be thankful

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves: we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good, his mercy is everlasting: and his truth endureth to all generations.

On behalf of all Americans, let us be thankful that we live in a great country where we are able to be thankful to our God for his blessings. Wishing a blessed Thanksgiving to all.

Going rate?

This whole mess about avoiding criminal prosecution (after being threatened with it) by “forfeiting” money stinks to high heaven. Like the pungent odor of a smoker walking past you on the street, you can smell the lingering stench of impropriety on David Cooke and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. No money? No walky. What’s the going rate for other non-violent crimes?

John Ricketson,

Macon
