Brother’s keeper
Steve Barker in his letter “Not my brothers keeper” (July 16) asks for someone to please show him where in the Constitution the government is given the responsibility to provide health care to those who cannot afford it.
I would refer him to the preamble to the Constitution which states, “ ...We the people of the United States... (to) promote the general welfare... do ordain and establish this constitution...”
I would also refer him to Article 1, Section 8 which gives Congress “...the power to lay and collect taxes...to pay the debts and provide for the... general welfare of the United States...”
If, like so many conservatives (and I’m assuming he would label himself such), Barker says he is Christian, I would refer him to the words of his lord and savior, “.... as you do unto the least of these, so you do unto me...”
Like it or not, we are all our brothers keepers. If our brothers are in trouble, I believe it is our Christian duty to help them out. And that would include making sure everyone has adequate health care, not just the well to do.

Neglected road
This Sunday’s paper allowed our mayor, commissioners and all of the supporters of downtown Macon to elaborate on their vast achievements. It was mostly tax dollars and $3 million from two trusts. Enhancing our city helped select members of citizens to expand their connection to my alma mater, (Mercer). Our hospital is tax exempt, too. It was the Medical Center, but as a massive holder of businesses, properties and now another hospital, is it not a taxable corporation?
Now the eye opener to all of the above should be Old Forsyth Road that connects Rivoli and Forsyth roads. Old Forsyth Road becomes Lamar Road which winds over to 25 businesses on Zebulon Road. During the past 30 years, Old Forsyth Road has been for the most part, neglected. Now think about all of these sidewalks on countless streets that rarely are used. The patching and filling two massive holes on Forsyth Road has cost more than resurfacing that country mile road. The hundreds of thousands dollars taxes paid by Macon-Bibb County residents who use that pathetic road deserves better.
Mr. Mayor, please while en route to your country club, or better yet afterward go out and ride down our country mile road.

Macon
Fitting name for club
This is response to Ross Hardy’s “No violation here.” Well King George and parliament through the same escalated to a shooting war. Their intent was to tax the colonies to bail out the East India tea company which backfired. The results is in the American annuals. Given the editor bias we cannot address the tax issue through this media so I would love to, as a sea lawyer discuss this matter at McDonald’s any morning between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. dubbed as Single Digit IQ Club tree house, northwest corner seven day a week meeting. All are welcome.

‘Organizing For Action’
I don’t understand how living in a country with it’s democracy established over 200 years ago and for the first time in history, suddenly we have one of our former presidents set up a group called “Organizing For Action” and 30,000-plus strong working to disrupt everything our current president is trying to do. This goes against our democracy and it is an operation that will destroy our way of governing. It goes against our Constitution, our laws and the process established over 200 years ago. If this is allowed to proceed then we’ll be living in chaos very much like third world countries are run.
What good is it to have an established government if it isn’t going to be respected and allowed to follow our laws? The ex-president said he’s going to stay involved through community organizing and speak out on the issues and that appears to be one post-administration promise he intends to keep.
He has moved many of his administration’s top dogs over to Organizing For Action. This organization is behind the implementation of all resistance we’re seeing all across America and is what’s called a “shadow government,” that Obama, under the tutaledge of George Soros will use to implement “progressive change” to destroy America. This “shadow government” has one goal and that is to resist and tear down our constitutional republic.
A writer for the New York Post said, OFA will fight President Donald Trump at every turn of his presidency and the ex-president will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House. Obama/Soros will sabotage the incoming administration through a network of non-profits led by OFA, which already has some 250-plus offices nationwide. His donors and supporter’s are also members of George Soros’ Democracy Alliance.
If “Barack Hussein Obama” did not destroy this country in the eight years he was in office, it appears his future plans are to destroy the foundation on which this country has operated on for the last 241 years. The main stream media will be helping this movement as they all hate “President Trump” because he’s smart and succeeding and keeping all of his promises. I honestly believe Trump will outsmart Obama and Soros and put them both along with many others in prison. I personally believe Trump will become the best president this great country has ever had. We really haven’t had a great president since Ronald Reagan.

Bad garbage service
Here in Warner Robins we pay $16.50 a month for garbage collection, which is way overpriced for the service we are receiving. I’m tired of coming home on trash day and still finding trash sitting next to the trash. I guess the driver is too lazy to get out of the truck and do his job.
The city of Warner Robins is getting ripped off by this contractor and something need to be done. I had a friend visiting from another city and he could not believe the worthless service we are receiving by the garbage collector. Since I’m a single adult living in my house, I’m going to look at other options for getting my trash removed from my house and getting rid of this worthless garbage collector.
