EDITORIAL: Thankful 2015

As we look around the world today and all its ills, we should take a moment to recognize how blessed we are to live in America, surrounded by friends and family, enjoying a meal that most of the rest of the world would think unbelievable. It's easy to lose sight of what we have by concentrating on what we don't have.

This is also a time to reconnect with family members we only see at this time of year and appreciate them -- or not -- for who they are and as part of the tapestry that is our family. It is a moment where we can forget about the raging storms that are surely ahead -- not only in the rest of the world but here at home as the political season heats up in intensity on the national, state and local levels. Yes, let's enjoy this respite while we can. Bring on the turkey, football and the tryptophan.
