A social media influencer has been banned for life from all Six Flags parks for eating chicken nuggets while riding a roller coaster at Cedar Point theme park in Ohio.

Influencer Allen Ferrell ate the nuggets on Tuesday, May 19 while riding the Millennium Force roller coaster at Cedar Point in northern Ohio. Six Flags, parent company of Cedar Point, confirmed the lifetime ban to USA TODAY on Friday, May 29.

Ferrell recorded the video of himself eating McDonald's Chicken McNuggets and dipping them in Sweet 'N Sour Sauce aboard the ride on May 19. He shared the video that same day to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube which has racked up thousands of views. Tony Clark, regional manager of public relations at Six Flags, said that guests must follow all rules "for safe riding."

"Safety is a cornerstone of our business, and we have zero tolerance for inappropriate and unsafe behavior," Clark said in an email, adding that the company's policy prohibits all loose articles on rides, including food because it could become a choking hazard.

"Guests who violate our Code of Conduct are not welcome in our parks, and this guest has been banned from all Six Flags parks for life," Clark wrote.

What does the company's code of conduct say?

Six Flags has a section on its website for content creators, which says the park doesn't work with creators who violate the park's safety rules, code of conduct or creator guidelines.

The code of conduct bans acts such as:

  • Unsolicited photographing or recording that disrupts a guest's experience or interferes with park operations.
  • Acts or behavior that park management determines is a safety concern or interrupts park operations or guests' experience.
  • Refusing to follow verbal or printed instructions or cooperate with park personnel or security.

Influencer accepted challenge to eat 10 nuggets on theme park ride

In his video, Ferrell read a comment daring him to eat 10 chicken nuggets while riding a roller coaster. He then recited his catchphrase, "What is wrong with you?" and took on the challenge.

While speaking to a park employee, Ferrell could be heard saying "If anyone asks, I do not have chicken nuggets in my underwear." The employee nodded and then the video cut to Ferrell getting situated on the 310-foot Millennium Force coaster.

Once the ride began, Ferrell pulled the nuggets out of his pants and even called for his camera man to give him some sauce to dip the nuggets into. Despite the wind and force of the roller coaster causing the sauce to slather across his face, he still screamed in excitement and had another nugget while aboard the ride.

And although he did eat some nuggets, he was just three nuggets shy of reaching his goal.

"We got seven down, so we did fail the challenge," he said.

At one point, as the coaster's car returned to the station, someone asked Ferrell if he brought nuggets on the ride.

"Hell yeah," the person said when they found out he did.

He also high-fived someone in front of him, and included in the video his official roller coaster photo, where viewers can see him munching on a chicken nugget.

Influencer has been doing challenges for years, hopes 'they lift the ban eventually'

Ferrell, who is 26 and is based just outside of Detroit, has been accepting challenges from viewers for six years, he told USA TODAY via Instagram on May 29. In 2020, his fans dared him to do a crazy challenge and he replied "What is wrong with you?" From there, the phrase became his catchphrase and a "recognizable part of my brand," he told USA TODAY.

Someone challenged him to eat the nuggets on a roller this month and then a few days later on May 19, he tried it out. This is the first time he has been banned due to a challenge, he said.

"I've done it before with a cheeseburger on the same ride and (I saw) it as good entertainment for my fans," he said.

He said he didn't find out he was banned until news outlets began reaching out to him, and then Cedar Point security called him shortly after. When asked if he has any regrets, he said he doesn't.

"This is what I signed up for," Ferrell said. "I understand Cedar Point's perspective. They don't want others that aren't professionals trying the challenges I do on a daily basis."

He said he plans to continue doing challenges (hopefully without being banned anywhere else).

"Stay tuned," he said to USA TODAY. "We're not slowing down. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!? merch is dropping soon!"

And when asked if he plans to challenge the lifetime ban at Six Flags and Cedar Point, Ferrell said. "I hope they lift the ban eventually. I love Cedar Point."
