Severe storms, damaging winds possible Tuesday for Middle Georgia, NWS says

More rain is expected Tuesday for Middle Georgia, with the possibility of severe storms in the forecast.

“The main threat that we have for any severe storm that pops up today is going to be straight line and severe winds,” said Ty Vaughn, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City. “And then definitely the rain. We’re expecting 4 inches of rain over the next two days, but the possibility of a quick tornado can’t be ruled out.”

On a scale of 1 to 5, the risk of severe weather for Macon and most of Middle Georgia was at a 2 early Tuesday, which is a marginal risk, Vaughn said.

Severe storms could roll in as early as early Tuesday afternoon, he said.
