Macon-Bibb County will be under a winter storm warning from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, the county announced.

With winter weather on the way to the Peach State, Macon could see 1 to 3 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

“The system is still in a shifting pattern and impacts in your area may vary throughout the event,” Macon-Bibb County said in a news release. “ ... The Emergency Management Agency and responders continue to monitor the forecast and its changes. Crews are on standby to prepare and respond, as needed based on the conditions.”

During the winter storm warning, Macon should expect rain that could turn to frozen precipitation, temperatures below freezing in the very early hours, ice on bridges, impacts to power lines and traffic signals, and downed limbs due to rain and snow.

“Roads may become slick due to freezing temperatures and winter precipitation,” Macon-Bibb County said. “If you must drive on Sunday, slow down, leave extra space, and treat intersections without working signals as four-way stops.”

A map from the National Weather Service shows Macon could see 2.2 inches of snow.
