Brief cold snap on the way to Middle Georgia after warm Christmas
After a warm Christmas Day, highs in the middle to upper 70s and lows around 60 degrees continued through Sunday in Middle Georgia.
But Monday is set usher in a brief period of chill, particularly at night, before warming begins again into New Year’s Day, forecasters say.
Monday will bring gusty winds, up to 28 mph, and highs in the mid-60s, forecasters say. Occasional rain is also in the forecast. The overnight low will dip to around 30 degrees, a bit below average for Dec. 29.
Tuesday’s high will reach only into the mid to upper 40s, forecasters say, with a low around freezing Tuesday night.
The warming trend begins Wednesday, with a forecast high of 55. New Year’s Day 2026 should be a nice day, with highs around 60, although gusty winds remain in the forecast.
Elsewhere, a powerful winter storm Sunday until Monday is expected to bring blizzard conditions to the Great Lakes area, icy conditions in the Northeast and severe thunderstorms farther south, Accuweather said.
