Slow-moving storm brings chance for hail, tornadoes in Macon. More rain coming
Macon residents should expect more rain, thunderstorms and possibly tornadoes and hail Monday and Tuesday, the National Weather Service said in a series of posts on X.
The National Weather Service said scattered storms will move across Georgia Monday before 10 p.m. While the biggest risk is predicted to be damaging wind gusts, the possibility of isolated tornadoes and pea to quarter sized hail “can’t be ruled out.”
The NWS also warned that there will be rain and threats of flooding through Tuesday throughout North and Middle Georgia.
While the NWS predicts the weather calming somewhat on Tuesday, an additional 0.5 to 2 inches of rain is expected in parts of Georgia, with some areas possibly seeing up to three inches.
The NWS is warning that the rain may cause some rivers and streams to overflow, and some areas may see flash flooding.
