Will Hurricane Francine impact Georgia? What to know about rainfall, wind & more
Hurricane Francine is currently gaining strength on the Gulf Coast and has been labeled a Category 1 storm.
The storm is predicted to hit parts of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi on Wednesday, but will it reach Georgia? Here’s what we know:
Will Francine impact Georgia?
According to the National Weather Service (NWS): “Any direct impacts are still anticipated to remain well to our west.”
However, hazardous conditions can still occur outside of the storm’s cone.
The potential for heavy rain will be in the forecast for Thursday and Friday in Georgia with totals ranging from 1-2” w/ 2-3” possible in some areas.
But that’s not all. Damaging winds, isolated tornadoes and flooding will also be a potential threat to Georgia. AccuWeather experts are predicting that Georgia will see “some” risk to lives and property through Friday.

Here’s what residents in the Macon area will see:
Macon will see Francine impacts on Friday until about 8 p.m.
Forecast includes heavy rain and some wind gusts of up to 15 mph.
Total rainfall is expected to be around 0.42 inches.
There is also a chance of thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday.
Here’s what Columbus residents should expect:
Impacts from Francine will start on Thursday around noon and end on Friday around 4 p.m.
Forecast includes rain totaling between 1-2 inches and wind gusts up to 32 mph.
Isolated tornadoes are also a possibility in this area on Friday.
