‘Dreary’ weekend likely for much of Middle Georgia with possibly an inch of rain Sunday
For a third weekend in a row, rain is expected for much of Middle Georgia, where up to an inch or more precipitation is possible in spots, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters say a strong low-pressure system from the Gulf of Mexico will likely trudge across Georgia, dumping rain and powering isolated thunderstorms, especially late Saturday on into Sunday and Monday morning.
In Friday’s online forecast discussion, a weather service meteorologist noted that it was “looking like a dreary weekend for us” in north Georgia and the midstate.
High temperatures on Saturday and Sunday were expected to hover around 60 degrees with overnight lows in the low 50s on Saturday and the lower 40s on Sunday.
Frigid overnight temperatures are forecast in the immediate wake of the rainy weather as skies clear and more Christmas-like conditions set in.
Lows for the Macon area on Monday night are expected to be around 30 degrees. Tuesday night’s lows in the area are forecast to be about 27 degrees, followed by a 31-degree low on Wednesday night.
