Cooler weather in store for Georgia as first full dose of fall settles in this weekend
The summer that wouldn’t end may have met its match.
With calendars flipped to October, the sunny-day swelter that has overstayed its welcome in these parts may well be shown the door in the form of a cold front sweeping through at week’s end.
Come Sunday morning, low temperatures of about 50 degrees are expected across Middle Georgia.
Overnight lows should dip into the upper 40s by Monday morning.
The coming cold front probably won’t deliver much in the way of rainfall when it arrives on Friday or so, Vaughn Smith, a forecaster at the National Weather Service’s Peachtree City office, said Monday.
“It’s really just ushering in the cooler, drier air that’s coming down from the western Great Lakes states,” Smith said.
Friday’s daytime high temperatures across the region should be in the mid-80s, but by Saturday and Sunday those daily highs will be more fall-like and in the middle 70s.
