Rain, flooding and tornadoes possible as severe weather moves through GA. See forecast.

It’s a new year, but 2023 will likely be off to a rainy and wet start in Georgia with the possibility of tornadoes, weather officials say,

Much of the Peach State is already under a flood watch, from 1 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday evening. Macon and Columbus are both included in that advisory.

The heavy rainfall is expected to produce 2 to 4 inches, although this total could be higher in some spots, according to Accuweather’s warning.

In addition to the Flood Watch, the National Weather Service has also issued a tornado watch in effect until 9 p.m. tonight for several counties. A “watch” means to be aware of the conditions because they have the potential to become serious. A “warning” means to take action and seek shelter, as the conditions have become dangerous.

The NWS has issued a Flood Watch and Tornado Watch for much of the Peach State.
