A new collaboration between Callaway Resort & Gardens and Wild Leap Brew Co. has produced Garden Vine, a limited-release beer that pulls from European brewing tradition and uses Georgia-grown muscadine grapes and beer-lovers can get it now.

Modern and Georgia-inspired

Garden Vine is a Berliner Weisse, a traditional, low-alcohol German beer known for its light body and tart finish and leans as much into Southern agriculture as it does old-world brewing

Interesting characteristics:

  • Brewed with equal parts wheat and pilsner malt
  • Highly carbonated
  • Tart finish
  • Features chamomile flowers
  • Brewed with Georgia-grown white muscadine grapes from Paulk Vineyards
  • Contains 4.4% ABV
  • Drinks light and crisp
  • Easy to drink in warm weather

Find it and try it

The beer made its debut during Callaway’s Gardens to Table Dinner Series, a multi-course dining experience pairing seasonal dishes with Wild Leap brews.

Georgia’s craft beverage scene

Georgia’s craft beverage scene has grown into one of the state’s strongest food-and-drink stories, with breweries, wineries and distilleries popping up across the state. The breweries and taprooms serve as gathering spots, tourist destinations and, in many places, part of revitalization efforts.

This release is part of this growing trend of hyper-local collaborations in Georgia, where breweries are leaning into regional ingredients and partnerships.

The use of muscadine grapes is remarkable because they are native to the Southeast and rarely featured in traditional beer styles.

It’s a good way to support area merchants, and it’s an easy day trip with a new, locally inspired drink waiting at the end.
