GA has the best summer travel destination in US, new ranking says. Here’s where, why
If you are excited to travel this summer, we’ve got good news for you: WalletHub just released a new study highlighting the best summer travel destinations in the U.S.
Even better news if you live in Georgia: you may not have to travel too far for a great summer vacation.
Here’s what to know:
The new WalletHub study compared 100 metro areas based on travel costs, local costs, activities, weather and safety. WalletHub analysts then gave each city a score and ranked each one from best to worst for summer travel.
Cities such as Orlando, Austin, Honolulu and Tampa all made the list, but they didn’t make the number one spot. That’s right, the number one spot went to a Georgia city.
Atlanta, Georgia ranked the best summer travel destination with an overall score of 69.93. The study revealed that Atlanta has great activities and weather for summer vacation as well as an abundance of attractions and travel costs are affordable.
Atlanta has flights for as little as $317, according to the study and flights from big cities don’t require connections, making the trip more enjoyable.
“In addition, Atlanta has a lot of diversity when it comes to attractions. The city also ranks very well when it comes to the prevalence of spas, wellness centers, shopping centers, ice cream shops and swimming pools, so there are plenty of places to have fun and cool off,” said Adam McCann, WalletHub financial writer.
Attractions such as The Georgia Aquarium, The Atlanta Zoo, The World of Coca-Cola and the Ponce City Market are all great options for travelers. Travelers can also get tickets to an Atlanta Braves game, concert or show at the Fox Theatre.
