Census data indicates that over half the population of Georgia is single, but the good news is that the state is one of the best places to live if you’re unmarried.

In a recent survey by financial website, WalletHub’s 2025 three cities made it onto the Best and Worst Cities for Singles, with Atlanta ranking as number one out of 182 other cities.

The report compares everything from dating opportunities to social life and costs, offering a snapshot of where it’s easiest (and hardest) to be single.

Atlanta is the best city to be single

The data suggests Atlanta’s ranking is due, in large part, to its unmatched opportunities and entertainment, which are two key ingredients for dating life.

Factors in the ranking:

  • High share of singles: nearly half of the population is single
  • A large and diverse dating pool
  • High concentrations of restaurants, bars, and social venues per capita
  • Affordable entertainment options
  • Strong employment opportunities
  • Varied and diverse cultural scene

Other Georgia cities on the list

Thankfully, non-Atlanta Georgia’s singles won’t have to move to find a match. Two other cities also made the 2025 list.

  • 149 - Columbus: Scored well for cost of living and community factors
  • 113 - Augusta: Ranked among the top half of U.S. cities for dating opportunities

How the rankings are determined

WalletHub compared 182 of the nation’s largest cities using 35 key metrics across three categories:

  • Economics: Includes the cost of living, average dating expenses, and job growth
  • Dating opportunities: Measured by the share of singles, online dating activity, and gender balance
  • Fun and recreation: Factors like nightlife, festivals, fitness centers, and entertainment options
