An 18-year-old man died days after being stabbed at a Walmart in Georgia, police say.

The Chatham County Police Department said a 49-year-old man was exiting a Walmart in Savannah on Oct. 23 when an 18-year-old kicked his shopping cart for unknown reasons.

The two men were then involved in an altercation, leading to the 18-year-old being stabbed by the other man, police said.

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital, where he died Oct. 27. His identity has not been publicly disclosed.

Officers have interviewed the 49-year-old man and witnesses to the incident, police said. No arrests have been announced as of Oct. 28.

Police said they will work with the Chatham County Attorney’s Office “to determine any criminal charges in the case.” An investigation remains ongoing.

Savannah is about a 250-mile drive southeast from Atlanta.
