Powerball players win $1 million in Georgia. Where were the lucky tickets sold?

Two Powerball tickets sold in Georgia won $1 million each, just missing the $244 million jackpot, lottery officials say.

The tickets matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, Oct. 11, the Georgia Lottery said. Another ticket won a $50,000 prize.

The lucky $1 million tickets were sold at a Citgo Food Mart in Union City, which is about a 20- mile drive southwest from Atlanta, and a K and B Food Mart in Snellville, which is about a 35-mile drive northeast from Atlanta.

The winning numbers were 13, 16, 18, 20 and 27 with a Powerball of 10. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.

Powerball jackpot rises

Nobody won the jackpot, which rises to an estimated $258 million, with a cash value of about $120.8 million, for the next drawing Monday, Oct. 13, the national Powerball site said.

Nearly 625,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.

The Powerball jackpot was last won Sept. 6, when players in Missouri and Texas split the $1.787 billion grand prize.

What to know about Powerball

To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
