Powerball player wins $1 million in Georgia. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball ticket sold in Georgia won $1 million, just missing the $777 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing Monday, Aug. 25, the Georgia Lottery said.
The lucky ticket was purchased online in Covington, which is about a 35-mile drive southeast from Atlanta, lottery officials said.
One other Georgia player won $50,000 in the drawing, lottery officials said. That ticket was purchased at a Chevron gas station in Austell, which is about a 15-mile drive northwest from Atlanta.
A ticket sold in Texas also won $1 million.
The winning numbers were 16, 19, 34, 37 and 64 with a Powerball of 22. The Power Play multiplier was 3x.
Powerball jackpot rises
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $815 million, with a cash value of about $367.9 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, Aug. 27, the national Powerball site said.
More than 1.5 million other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize.
