Powerball player wins $50,000 prize in Georgia. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Georgia lottery player missed the Powerball jackpot but still walked away with a windfall.
Someone in Reidsville matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000 in the drawing Monday, Sept. 16, narrowly missing the $163 million grand prize, according to the Georgia Lottery.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Reidsville Food Mart on West Brazell Street, officials said.
The winning numbers were 8, 9, 11, 27, 31 and red Powerball 17, according to the lottery game’s website. The Power Play multiplier option was 5x.
There were $1 million winners in Arkansas and Virginia, and someone in Texas won $2 million after matching five numbers with the Power Play option, results show.
No one snagged the game’s grand prize, pushing the jackpot to an estimated $176 million for the next drawing on Wednesday, Sept. 18. That prize now has a cash value of just over $89 million.
Reidsville is about a 70-mile drive west from Savannah.
