These 10 Georgians on Forbes’ Billionaires List make a combined $74.2 billion. See who
With more than 2,700 people included, Forbes’ 2024 World Billionaires List is “bigger and richer than ever.”
The billionaires on the list are worth a combined $14.2 trillion and the U.S. makes up a big chunk of that, with 813 billionaires worth a combined $5.7 trillion.
The richest person on the planet is currently Bernard Arnault, a French businessman, who is worth a massive $233 billion.
The list also includes 10 Georgia billionaires, with the richest possessing a whopping $9.7 billion. The 10th richest Georgian is worth about half of that amount, coming out at $4.6 billion.
So, who are they, how old are they and what are their occupations? Here’s what to know:
Georgia’s richest residents
The Cathy Family
Bubba Cathy, 69, and his brother Dan Cathy, 70, top the billionaires list in Georgia and both are worth $9.7 billion. If their names sound familiar, it’s probably because you’ve dined at their restaurant chain, Chick-Fil-A.
The third richest Georgian is also in the Cathy family and her name is Trudy Cathy White, 67. She, like Bubba and Dan, is also worth $9.7 billion.
Bernard Marcus
Bernard Marcus, 94, is the third richest billionaire in Georgia and is worth an impressive $9.2 billion. Marcus co-founded Home Depot in 1978 after being fired from his job at a hardware store.
Arthur Blank
You may know this name because he’s the chairman of the Atlanta Falcons, but he actually got his wealth from being the co-founder of Home Depot with Bernard Marcus. Blank, 81, is worth $7.9 billion.
Jim Kennedy
Jim Kennedy, 75, is worth $6.7 billion and was the chairman (2008-2021) of Cox Enterprises.
John Brown
John Brown, 89, is worth $6.2 billion for his work with Stryker Corp., a medical device and software company.
Gary Rollins
Gary Rollins, 79, controls Orkin, the biggest pest control company by revenues in North America. Rollins is worth $5.6 billion.
Dan Kurzius
Dan Kurzius, 51, co-founded Mailchimp in 2001 and he is worth $4.9 billion.
Ben Chestnut
Ben Chestnut, 49, co-founded Mailchimp with Dan Kurzius in 2001. Chestnut is worth $4.6 billion.
