Five people were thrown into the water when their 27-foot boat struck jetties in a Georgia river, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast.

Coast Guard officials with the Tybee Island station and a good Samaritan responded to the Savannah River on Sunday, June 18, according to a statement from the Coast Guard on Twitter.

All five people were pulled from the water and evaluated by paramedics, according to the agency.

The boat sank and was recovered, the Coast Guard said.

The Savannah River runs along the border between South Carolina and Georgia.

Tybee Island is a barrier island along the Georgia coast, about 20 miles southeast of Savannah.
