A 74-year-old man died after a tree-trimming accident left him stuck 20 feet off the ground in north Georgia, news outlets and the coroner’s office reported.

Leonard Highsmith was rescued Monday, Feb. 6, after he was found unconscious in a tree, according to NowHabersham.com. Officials said Highsmith was cutting limbs on a vacant lot in Clarkesville when he got hurt.

He was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries Tuesday, Feb. 7, Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire told McClatchy News.

Highsmith’s death was ruled accidental and resulted from complications of injuries he suffered in the tree trimming incident, McEntire said. Authorities said he had a serious leg injury, WSB-TV reported.

“Our thoughts and prayers extend to the family through this difficult time,” McEntire told NowHabersham.com.

Additional information about the accident wasn’t immediately available.

Habersham County is about 90 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
