A driver was desperate for gas after being robbed — then came an “act of kindness” from a Georgia police officer.

A woman was heading to her job when she stopped at a gas station. But her pre-paid card declined, leaving her “frustrated” and faced with the prospect of a rainy walk, according to the McDonough Police Department.

“She was out of fuel, out of money and was on her way to work,” police wrote Nov. 10 in a Facebook post. “She would have had to leave her vehicle and walk to work in the rain.”

But then an officer noticed the driver’s struggle and stepped in to help. After listening to her situation, he decided to pay for her gas.

It turns out, the driver reportedly “lost all of her credit cards and money” in a robbery and didn’t have another option to fill up her tank. The officer’s gesture caught the attention of social media users, including dozens who praised his actions.

“Thank you for your service and this wonderful act of kindness,” one person commented on the police department’s Facebook post.

Another person wrote that there were “good ppl left out there.”

McDonough is roughly 30 miles southeast of Atlanta.
