Missing 1-year-old found safe after SUV was stolen with him inside, Georgia cops say
A missing 1-year-old was found safe after an SUV was stolen with him inside of it, Georgia police said.
An Amber Alert had been issued for Blaise Barnett, who authorities say was safe as of 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11.
Officials gave the update after they said the child was abducted early Nov. 10. He disappeared from Montreal Road in Clarkston, northeast of Atlanta, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
At about 1 a.m., Blaise was sitting in a “2002 Ford Explorer when it was stolen from in front of his home,” the Clarkston Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
Now, police, who had been searching for the SUV, said it was found without the boy inside at about 11 a.m on Nov. 10. DeKalb County officials had spotted the Ford Explorer in the Brannon Hill Condominiums, roughly 2 miles from his house.
“Blaise along with his car seat was missing from the vehicle,” police said in a news release. “The vehicle has been taken to the GBI headquarters for processing evidence.”
Officials say they plan to share additional information about the case involving Blaise, whose name was spelled “Blace” by police in initial news releases.
“Just bring him home,” the child’s mother, Deonna Bray, told WSB-TV during his disappearance. “He’s no harm. He’s the sweetest boy in the world.”
