Fair ride malfunction leaves two children dangling in the air
Two children went through a terrifying experience after a ride they were on at the Coosa Valley Fair in Rome, GA, malfunctioned.
Brayden Cooper, 13, and his cousin, Gracie Presley, 10, were near the top of the Zipper ride when the cage flew open Wednesday night, the Rome News-Tribune reported. Brayden came out of his harness but was able to hold on to prevent himself from falling. Gracie was left dangling in her harness face down, according to TV station WXIA.
Fair officials got the children down without injury. The ride was closed and is awaiting inspection.
“It was definitely terrifying,” Brayden’s dad, Tony Cooper, told the News-Tribune. “But it could’ve been a much worse outcome.”
Cooper posted on Facebook an account of the incident and two photos of a fair official climbing the ride to reach his dangling son.
