Lauren Giddings Murder

Police search McDaniel's apartment, say it's related to Giddings case

Macon police performed a new search of the Georgia Avenue apartment of Stephen McDaniel about 2:10 pm Wednesday.

McDaniel is considered a person of interest by police in the killing of recent Mercer law school graduate Lauren Giddings.

Wednesday's search marks at least the third time that authorities have searched apartment No. 4 for evidence in the case.

Department spokesperson Jami Gaudet confirmed that the search was in connection to the Giddings case and not burglary charges on which McDaniel is being held.

Gaudet said police will continue processing evidence and will return to the apartment as needed until the FBI returns lab results on previously collected evidence.
