Giddings’ family back inside her apartment
Lauren Giddings’ family went back inside her apartment Friday morning, going through her belongings and looking for anything amiss that might help police find her killer.
At one point, something in a paper bag was handed out to police for safekeeping.
Police Chief Mike Burns told reporters that police have a video of the recent Mercer law school graduate from June 25, the last day she was seen alive. He would not divulge details of where or when the video was taken.
Meanwhile, two teams of search dogs, including a unit from Dooly County, have been at the Georgia Avenue apartment complex today, helping look for clues in the 27-year-old’s slaying.
Macon police found the torso of Giddings’ body June 30 near her apartment at the Barristers Hall apartments. Since then, they have sent evidence gathered at that apartment and others to the FBI Academy in Virginia for testing, and they’ve asked the public to help them find the missing body parts.
Workers also have searched nearby wooded areas, along the Ocmulgee River, at the city landfill, and in drains and pipes near the apartment building.
Burns said authorities plan to return to the river today for another sweep there.
