Expert assistance available to groups fighting blight
Nonprofit and public organizations working on blight issues might be eligible for expert assistance in turning around neighborhoods facing large-scale vacancy and abandonment.
The Center for Community Progress, a nonprofit focused on blight solutions, is providing up to 200 hours of expert help through its Technical Assistance Scholarship program. The help will be focused in the areas of strategic code enforcement, tax reform, land banking, reuse planning and using data and information systems.
An earlier round of scholarships provided assistance to Atlanta, Georgia; Butte-Silver Bow, Montana; and Lafayette, Louisiana.
There will be an information webinar on the program at noon Oct. 6 and potential applicants can submit questions through Oct. 16.
The deadline for application is Nov. 5 and additional information can be found at www.communityprogress.net.
