A second candidate has emerged for the Houston County Superior Court judgeship being vacated by George Nunn.

Warner Robins attorney Jeffrey L. Grube officially tossed his hat into the ring Thursday.

Grube said he has thought for a long while about running for the post if it ever became vacant. He said he was encouraged by friends and colleagues to enter the race for the nonpartisan seat.

Grube is running on his experience, having been in private practice in Warner Robins since 1979. As a criminal defense attorney, Grube has handled death-penalty cases.

He also is the Centerville Municipal Court judge and previously served as a Warner Robins Municipal Court judge and an associate juvenile judge in Houston County.

"I've got a lot judicial experience," Grube said.

He also served for more than nine years as the Houston County school board attorney.

On Monday, G.E. "Bo" Adams, who is a Warner Robins attorney and the Warner Robins Municipal Court judge, announced his intentions to run for the post.

Nunn, who will mark 30 years as a Houston County Superior Court judge in June, sent letters in early December to the membership of the Houston County Bar Association about his plans to retire. He noted in his letter that he wanted those considering the post to have plenty of time to make their decision.

Qualifying will take place March 7-11.
