Bibb County Democratic Party to host presidential debate event

The Bibb County Democratic Party is hosting a watch night party for the upcoming presidential debate Saturday.

The party will begin at 8 p.m. at the Bibb County Democratic Party headquarters at 1680 Broadway in Macon at the Double U Business Center, according to a news release.

People in attendance will watch the CBS News Democratic debate beginning at 9 p.m. It will be the first debate this presidential election cycle to be broadcast over nationwide network television. All previous debates have aired on cable channels, the release said.

CBS News Political Director John Dickerson will be the principal moderator with participation by Cynthia Fodor and Alyx Sacks of Des Moines, Iowa TV station KCCI. This is the third of six Democratic debates, announced earlier this year by the Democratic National Committee.

The Bibb County Democratic Party welcomes the community to bring signs and any campaign materials to show support for their favorite Democratic candidate such as Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Martin O'Malley.

The event in Macon will include live and ongoing social media with a hashtag campaign, voter registration, debate survey/scoring and a Best Democratic Spirit costume contest and more.
