6:15 a.m.: Major news organizations have called the presidential race for Donald Trump.

What some of them are saying:

Newsweek: “Donald J. Trump completed the greatest political comeback in modern U.S. history in the early hours of Wednesday, claiming enough electoral votes to defeat Vice President Kamala Harris and return to the White House for a second term. The president-elect declared victory in a speech from Florida at 2:30 a.m. ET, saying he had masterminded the “greatest political movement of all time” and pledging to “help our country heal,” after vowing during the campaign to exact “retribution” on his political enemies.”

New York Times: “Donald Trump rode a promise to smash the American status quo to win the presidency for a second time on Wednesday, surviving a criminal conviction, indictments, an assassin’s bullet, accusations of authoritarianism and an unprecedented switch of his opponent to complete a remarkable return to power. Trump’s victory caps the astonishing political comeback of a man who was charged with plotting to overturn the last election but who tapped into frustrations and fears about the economy and illegal immigration to defeat Vice President Kamala Harris.”

Los Angeles Times: “Donald Trump, the twice-impeached, criminally convicted former president who survived two assassination attempts during the 2024 campaign, has been voted back into the White House. Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris marks an extraordinary political comeback after he lost to President Joe Biden in 2020, attempted to overturn the election results, and left Washington in disgrace after his most ardent supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on his behalf during the deadly insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.”
