Mike Bloomberg may be in Macon as campaign rallies against gun violence

Mike Bloomberg, a Democratic presidential candidate for 2020, may be making an appearance in Macon on Wednesday.

Bloomberg’s campaign will be opening an office at 3085 Vineville Avenue at 3:30 p.m. and will have a meet and greet with Bloomberg, according to a news release.

Gun violence survivors including Sharmaine Brown will be accompanying the campaign in Georgia along with other survivors, elected officials and supporters, according to the release.

Bloomberg was the mayor of New York City for 12 years and co-founded Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a coalition with more than 1,000 current and former mayors.

Bloomberg chose not to compete in the Iowa and Nevada caucuses and South Carolina and New Hampshire primaries and instead elected to focus on larger states that begin voting in March, according to The New York Times.
