Buck Melton served as Macon mayor from 1975-1979. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 90.
MILITARY FAMILY ROUNDTABLES
From Tuesday through Thursday, the Georgia House Democratic Caucus will hold a series of roundtable meetings to hear testimony from military and veteran communities as part of their new "A Promise Kept" initiative aimed at improving the lives of military families and veterans in Georgia, according to a news release.
Georgia is home to 10 active military installations, more than 750,000 veterans, and more than 105,000 active duty military and civilian personnel. Too many veterans and military families go without adequate access to healthcare, quality education, and secure employment in our state, the release said.
A Warner Robins roundtable will be hosted by state Reps. James Beverly, Nikki Randall and Taylor Bennett. The event will take place Wednesday from noon-2 p.m. at the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce, 1228 Watson Blvd.
Other roundtables will be held next week in Columbus, Augusta and Hinesville.
These roundtable meetings will give military families and veterans a chance to share their concerns with state legislators. Legislation will be filed in the coming weeks, centered on known issues facing the military community as well as those learned about through statewide testimony.

'TIS THE SEASON
Macon-Bibb County has sent out about 900 invitations for its Dec. 17 holiday open house.
The reception offers people a chance to celebrate the season with elected officials and government employees as Christmas beckons.
This year's event, which will be held at the Macon-Bibb Government Center, will take place from 4-6 p.m.
The reception is something that carried over from the former Bibb County government and was held by the consolidated government for the first time last year, said Mayor Robert Reichert.
