Retiring Macon-Bibb firefighters to be honored Friday

The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department will hold a retirement ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday at fire headquarters, 800 Oglethorpe St., according to a news release.

Fifty-seven employees from the department will be recognized for their many years of service, with remarks and thanks given by Chief Marvin Riggins, Mayor Robert Reichert and members of the Board of Commissioners.

"These men and women have served our community faithfully for a combined total of more than 1,700 years of experience," Riggins said in the release. "They deserve all the recognition we can give them, and our community owes them a debt of gratitude."
