Political Notebook: Macon-Bibb officials look at technology audit

The Macon-Bibb County Commission will vote Tuesday on whether to perform a technology audit.

A resolution proposes spending $11,100 on an assessment that will check the technical capabilities at the various government buildings. The contract would be with Infinity Network Solutions, which has an understanding of some of the inner workings of Macon-Bibb’s technology after being involved in a local government project before, said Assistant County Manager Charles Coney.

CONSULTANT DECISION UPCOMING FOR MACON’S FIRE AND POLICE PENSION FUND

The Macon Fire and Police Employees Retirement Pension Board could vote on a consultant for the $220 million portfolio on Wednesday.

Macon-Bibb County Commissioner Larry Schlesinger, a board member, has said he expects a consultant to be selected by the pension board on Wednesday. The board will have a second round of interviews with two finalists that were selected from a group of six.

The two remaining firms -- Orlando, Florida-based Bogdahn Group and Raymond James, which has a Macon branch -- received the highest scores from the board following an Aug. 13 interview.

PERRY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR RESIGNS

Mike Beecham, community development director for the city of Perry, tendered his resignation Monday.

Beecham’s last day of work will be Sept. 25, according to a city memo.

The community development director is responsible for performing department-level supervisory and technical work associated with zoning, code enforcement, issuing permits and licenses and planning community facility projects, according to the city’s job description.
