Mercer grad part of President Trump’s impeachment trial legal team
If you’re watching the Senate impeachment trial, you might recognize a familiar face and name.
Jay Sekulow, one of President Trump’s personal lawyers, is part of his legal defense team presenting their case against the allegations attached to the impeachment trial.
Sekulow graduated from Mercer University in 1977 before attending law school at Mercer and graduating in 1980 — earning him the distinction of being a double bear.
He also served as part of Trump’s legal team during Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and has been part of the battle to prevent the release of the president’s tax returns.
Sekulow is the host of a radio and TV talk show and has argued over 10 cases in front of the Supreme Court. In 2018, he returned to the Mercer University campus in Macon to speak at the annual Founder’s Day event.
