Political Notebook: C. Jack Ellis returns to TV talk show realm

Former Macon Mayor C. Jack Ellis is back in a familiar setting: hosting a new TV talk show touching on politics and other public affairs in Macon-Bibb County.

Ellis' latest show, titled "Middle Georgia Spotlight," is now airing on Mercer University Broadcasting's WMUB-TV. Before becoming Macon mayor in 1999, Ellis spent 10 years hosting a show on public access TV.

For "Middle Georgia Spotlight," Ellis has already interviewed people including state Sen. David Lucas, D-Macon, state Rep. James Beverly, D-Macon, Macon-Bibb County Commissioner Elaine Lucas, and Bibb school Superintendent Curtis Jones. He also said he plans to interview Mercer University President Bill Underwood.

"Middle Georgia Spotlight" airs Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m., with reruns on Saturday at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m..

WMUB-TV is on digital channel Channel 38, Cox Communications channel 112, ComSouth channel 212, Watson Cable and Suburban Cable channel 15, Reynolds Cable channel 112, and Flint Cable channel 7.
