Boyfriend unintentionally fatally shoots 19-year-old in head, Georgia cops say
A man has been arrested after being accused of unintentionally shooting his girlfriend dead, Georgia officials said.
On Oct. 9, Lawrenceville officers responded to a home after getting reports of a person having been shot, according to a Facebook post by the police department.
When they arrived, they found a 19-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head in an upstairs bedroom, police said.
Emergency personnel said the woman died at the scene, according to, officers .
The woman’s boyfriend was detained at the home without incident and charged with a felony count of involuntary manslaughter, officials said.
Police will identify the woman when her family is notified, officials said.
“This is an incredibly tragic situation, and our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones,” Capt. Dena Pauly, the public information officer for the Lawrenceville Police Department, said in the release. “Our investigators are working diligently to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding this young woman’s death.”
Lawrenceville is about a 40-mile drive northeast from Atlanta.
