Powerball player wins $1 million prize. Where in the US was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball player in Vermont won $1 million, just missing the $429 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched five winning numbers, but not the Powerball, in the drawing Monday, Aug. 4, the Vermont Lottery said.
A ticket sold in Texas won $2 million and one sold in Pennsylvania won $1 million.
The winning numbers were 8, 9, 19, 31 and 38 with a Powerball of 21. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
Powerball jackpot rises
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $449 million, with a cash value of about $203.9 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, Aug. 6, the national Powerball site said.
More than 515,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize.
