KFC brings back fan favorite not seen in more than 5 years. What to know
KFC is bringing a brunch classic back to its menu for the first time in years.
Customers can get their first bites of chicken & waffles, available Monday, April 28, at participating restaurants nationwide, according to the Kentucky-based chicken chain.
The combo — featuring KFC’s “secret recipe” fried chicken paired with Liege-style waffles and a side of Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup — had been missing from the menu for more than five years before making its anticipated return ahead of Mother’s Day, KFC said in a news release.
The chicken and waffles combo starts at $7, though pricing may vary by location.
“KFC sells hundreds of thousands of buckets of fried chicken each Mother’s Day, making it one of its most popular days of the year,” the restaurant said, adding that the holiday is also its “biggest day” for delivery and online orders.
Popular among fans, KFC’s chicken and waffles was once the subject of an online petition urging the fast-food chain to “bring this masterpiece back!”
“This decadent meal used to be served in two options: as a sandwich topped with a hot honey sauce, or as a platter drizzled with Mrs. Butterworth’s thick and rich syrup,” the organizer wrote.
Chicken & waffles are available for a limited time, while supplies last, a KFC spokesperson told McClatchy News.
Those in search of dessert can also try the new strawberry & creme pie poppers, made with a strawberry and cream filling inside a bite-sized pastry, the restaurant said.
Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.
