A lottery player won a huge jackpot prize — then she faced a dilemma.

“I didn’t know whether I should shout, scream or cry,” the winner told the South Carolina Education Lottery in a March 27 news release.

The woman celebrated her $200,000 win after she went on a grocery run. While shopping at the Publix supermarket in Hardeeville, she spent $5 on a ticket for the The Big $pin scratch-off game.

It turns out, her ticket beat 1-in-900,000 odds to win the game’s top prize. She was at home when she discovered the big win, which left her in disbelief.

The prize was the real deal, and the lucky player kept $139,000 after taxes. The woman, who wasn’t identified publicly, plans to share her winnings with family members, lottery officials wrote in the release and an email to McClatchy News.

Hardeeville is a roughly 20-mile drive northwest from the popular tourist destination of Hilton Head Island.

The $200,000 prize was announced one month after officials said another Hardeeville lottery player got richer. That winner was skeptical, so he asked for a second opinion about his ticket, McClatchy News reported.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
