A Missouri woman was so shocked after scratching off a lottery ticket, she needed help confirming her prize.

She grabbed a calculator and tallied up a “series of prizes” worth $50,000, lottery officials said in a Nov. 18 news release.

The woman from Bonne Terre confirmed her total winnings, then shared the good news with her husband.

“He didn’t believe it either,” she told officials. “He went back into the store to scan the ticket to make sure we won!”

The woman plans to spend some of the winnings on a vacation the couple had planned.

Bonne Terre is about a 60-mile drive southwest from St. Louis.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
