Kentucky police had a seafood boil. The internet let them know it wasn’t good
The Danville Police Department has gone viral for its Facebook post of a seafood boil, one that would likely make a Cajun chef bid adieu to the cookout.
Before noon on Thursday, Aug. 8, Danville police shared photos to its Facebook page of a seafood boil. Police added a caption to the photos saying “who said cooking was just for fire departments!!”
Despite the playful jab at their public service counterparts who are traditionally known for cooking, the internet decided it was the police department who needed a roasting lesson.
The initial batch of photos didn’t include a key ingredient in seafood boils: Seasoning. Followers of the Facebook page noticed and called out the police department for not including much spice.
“When the shrimp and onions still white as can be.... Doesn’t take a detective to see not a single bit of season was used,” said Drew Jones in a comment.
“All I see is yellow blandness lol I thought it was popcorn at first when I was scrolling,” said Crystal Garcia in a comment noting the no seasoning.
One commenter even tagged the Lexington Police Department in a comment, trying to report a crime.
Approximately six hours after the post was up it had 1,000 comments, forcing the department to defend its cooking technique. They added a picture to the of the seasoning used and said, “everyone take a deep breath, we may be cops but we are smart enough to season our food. Thanks for all the entertaining comments!”
As of 10:30 a.m. Aug. 9, the Facebook post has generated 1,700 comments and been shared more than 1,400 times.
