Lottery player won millions 2 years ago — and just won big again in North Carolina
John Robbins won millions playing the lottery in North Carolina two years ago and was “told lightning can’t strike twice,” he said.
Then it did.
The Wilmington man just won $100,000 on a Black Titanium scratch-off ticket at the same store where he won big the first time, the N.C. Education Lottery said in a June 4 news release.
This time, Robbins said he plans to use the windfall to give back to his community.
“My dream is to make a difference in Wilmington,” he told lottery officials. “I want to give back to people here who are less fortunate. I want to do something to help change that.”
In May 2022, Robbins won $2 million on an Ultimate 7’s ticket, according to the N.C. Education Lottery.
This time around, he took home $71,509 after tax, lottery officials said.
“I was definitely excited because I have some dreams I want to work on,” he said.
Three top prizes of $4 million remain in the game, which debuted last June, as well as five prizes of $100,000, according to lottery officials.
Robbins purchased his winning tickets at Han-Dee Hugo’s in Wilmington, near the southeast coast of North Carolina.
