Lost 3-year-old spends 15 hours alone in freezing Utah temperatures, family says
A missing 3-year-old was found safe and healthy after spending more than 15 hours alone, according to Utah officials.
Beaver County deputies say they were notified of a missing child around 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, according to a news release. The child was reported to be in a rugged, unfamiliar area west of Milford, about 200 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.
The boy got lost on a rock dig Friday night, his mom, Sondra Wilson, wrote in a Facebook post. He was in the “Utah desert wilderness” where the temperature was 23 degrees overnight.
The child was found alive the morning of Saturday, Oct. 29, and he was immediately helicoptered to a hospital, his mom said. He was healthy but officials wanted to check his vitals and warm him up before discharging him.
“It is an understatement to say that this is the best possible outcome that we could have expected,” Sondra Wilson said. “This is nothing short of a miracle!!!”
